Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the state government not to file the final report/charge sheet without its permission in the FIRs pertaining to the June 4 stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
Justice S R Krishna Kumar gave this direction after hearing the petitions filed by Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL), which manages the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) IPL team, and the DNA Entertainment Networks Ltd, an event management company.
At the hearing, the counsel for RCSPL submitted that they are cooperating in the investigation and that if a charge sheet was filed in the meantime, the possibility of damage caused to them would be irreparable.
On the other hand, the government advocate submitted that nothing will happen in the next one week or 10 days as the investigation would take up at least a month to culminate.
The court adjourned the hearing to August 5 while extending the interim order granted earlier. On June 17, the court had passed an interim order directing the police not to take coercive action against the petitioners with a direction to the petitioners to co-operate in the ongoing investigation.
