State to develop Rs 62 crore SSI clusters

Presenting the budget proposals for the 2011-12, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said Rs 62 crore would be provided for establishment of new industrial clusters.

Yeddyurappa said a comprehensive proposal to revive and revitalise Mysore Paper Mills is under preparation. An amount of Rs 100 crore required for this purpose would be mobilised.
In the mining sector, the total revenue earned in the present financial year has already crossed Rs 900 crore and is likely to reach Rs 1,100 crore which will be about 25 per cent more than the last year.

Acknowledging the contribution of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, Yeddyurappa said 50 acres of land would be provided to this institution for setting up an undergraduate campus in Dharwad.

He said the the government was keen to develop Challakere taluk of Chitradurga into a Science and Technology Resource Hub. “We have facilitated installation of the DRDO’s projects in 4,250 acres of land as well as establishing the second campus of IISc by granting land of 1,500 acres. Land has also been provided to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Indian Space Research Organisation for taking up their projects.  In this area various organisations would invest  around Rs 5,000 crore”, he said.

He said eight districts in addition to Mysore and Tumkur will be covered under the Aadhar (UID) project to give Unique Identification Numbers to all the residents of the state.
