The recent incident of sexual assault on a BPO employee in Bengaluru is testimony to the failure of the State Home department, BJP leader S Suresh Kumar said on Wednesday.

Addressing reporters, he pointed out another incident where a teenage girl had committed suicide in Chikkajala after some youths stripped her and took nude photographs of her.

Incidents of sexual assault on women have been on the rise and the Home department has completely failed in preventing them, he charged.

The Union government has issued certain guidelines to all states on ensuring the safety of women following the rape of a young woman in Delhi in December 2012.
But the State government has not implemented the guidelines strictly, he said.

Rahul visit

Kumar said the scheduled visit of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to the homes of farmers in Mandya and Haveri on October 9 and 10 would not serve any purpose.

“The aggrieved farmers’ families will not benefit in any way with his visit. Distressed farmers in both Mandya and Haveri have already lost their crops,” the BJP leader said.
