This collaboration follows a research campaign initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Speaking on the sidelines of a networking meeting here recently, Joeri Borstlap, coodinator, Regenerative Medicine Initiative Germany-RMIG, who was a part of the German Delegation, said the focus of such a forum will be on development of new therapies for cardiac diseases, diabetes and stroke.

Spelling out the benefits of such a collaboration, he said Germany can offer quality controlled clinical studies. As there is a shortage of human resources such as young researchers in Germany, they plan to offer attractive education opportunities for greater participation in this field he added.

An online database will be developed with all the potential Indian partners, collaborative meetings and forums will be organised, concrete products will be identified involving academia and industry on both sides.
