Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday said that Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project instilled a dream in students to become future policemen.

He was speaking at the valedictory of the SPC summer camp at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here.

“Only 40 schools in four districts have been selected for the SPC project at present. I will discuss the expansion of the project to other districts with the home and chief ministers,” he said.

Film actor Puneeth Rajkumar said the SPC project would convert students into virtual policemen. “Khaki symbolises discipline. The students should not be afraid of the Khaki uniform. They should be disciplined once they see the uniform,” he said.

SPC project coordinator and Additional Commissioner (East) P Harishekharan, City Police Commissioner N S Megharik and Additional Commissioners Charan Reddy and Sharath Chandra were present on the occasion.

Government High School, Agara, Bengaluru; Government Composite PU College, Kushal Nagar, Madikeri; and Government School, Varuna, Mysuru, bagged the first, second and third places respectively for their performances. The prizes were distributed among the cadets.
