Following the server crash, the officials of Karnataka State Data Centre held a series of meetings with the KEA authorities on Friday to discuss the issue. As shared by the KEA officials, there were technical glitches.

“We were given 10 servers at state data centre and technical issues were reported in some of the servers. When a student hits the faulty server, then he gets error message. To address the issue, teams from National Informatics Centre are working,” said a senior official of the KEA.

However, to avoid anxiety among students and parents, the KEA has extended the option entry process for a week and as per the revised schedule, the deadline for students to enter their options has been extended till July 18.

“We cannot call it a crash, it was because of technical issues and it is being addressed. Now, as we have extended the deadline, there is no need for the students and the parents to panic,” said Prasanna H, Executive Director of KEA.

According to the KEA authorities, they cannot even host on cloud due to security reasons and due to protocol the authority has to do it through state data centre only.

However, despite the disruption, 34,108 candidates entered their options on Friday till 7 pm, with a total options of 8.47 lakh.
