Demanding free bus passes for all students in Karnataka, students of various educational institutions staged a protest here in Ramanagaram, in front of the Revenue department building, on Friday.

They argued that the previous government had announced that free bus passes would be issued to students. But no allocation had been made in the recent state budget for such a benefit.

"The government has been insensitive to our requests. The government has to contain the money pilferage in the Transport department and use the saved money to issue free bus passes to students," they demanded in unison.
