The agitators, who had gathered at the ‘Santhe Maidan’, marched on the main roads of the town and raised slogans against the factory management.

The rally culminated near the factory where they stated dharna for more than one hour.
Haralakere Manju, a ryot leader said trucks and tractors that bring sugar cane to the factory, were damaging the roads.

The villagers are forced to travel on those pothole roads daily as no options are left.  The factory management failed to respect the people’s sentiments and flouted the norms prescribed by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.

Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to Assistant Manager Siddaramegowda who visited the spot of dharna.

They urged him to repair the roads as the factory is financially sound. They warned that the protest would be intensified if the management fails to meet their demands within two weeks.Leaders Naveen, Santosh, Sagar, Devaraju, Keelaghatta Nanjundaiah, Dodda Chandru, Kumar Koppa and others led the protest.
