Kukke Subrahmanya Mutt seer Vidyaprasannateertha Swami withdrew his fast on Monday.

The seer had been fasting since Saturday following denial of water to the mutt from Kannadihole, a stream flowing in the forest near Subrahmanya. The seer was also upset over a few allegations against the mutt and the controversies surrounding it.Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Pejawar seer Vishweshateertha, Suttur Mutt seer, ministers and seers from Ashta Mutts of Udupi had appealed to the seer to withdraw his fast on Sunday.

“The Pejawar seer and chief minister have promised to sort out the issues amicably. Accordingly, I have decided to withdraw my fast which continued for nearly 60 hours,” said the seer.

He said “fasting was necessitated due to various reasons. I have prayed for solving the differences between two places of worship. The Pejawar seer promised to sort out the issues after Navarathri celebrations. Even the government has promised to solve the issue. I have decided to end fast following the assurance.”
