Bidadi (Ramanagara district): Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, also the JD(S) state president, called upon his party workers on Sunday to support the BJP to bring down the Congress government in the state.
"This (Channapatna byelection) defeat will not decide the fate of the party. Let us regroup and give a befitting reply in the next election," he said addressing the party legislators, - sitting and former - party leaders and the workers at a meeting at his Kethaganahalli residence here.
"Nikhil is the future leader of the party. The party leaders and the workers should guide him. There is a need to strengthen the party in the state by relaunching the membership drive," the former chief minister said and suggested the party workers to launch the drive from the booth level.
Chanting a unity mantra, he said, "Ours is a workers-based party. I don't believe in caste politics. We are committed to take all communities along. We should put up a united front in the local bodies elections. Nobody can break us if we stay united."
