The report, ASHWAS that covered 17,200 households, spoke of the high fluoride and nitrate content in drinking water and the dismal sanitation standards present in may parts of the State.

Taking cognisance of the report, Justice S R Nayak, Chairperson of the Commission, said the right to health is a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution.

Hence, the Commission wants to have a responsible response from the Government of Karnataka with regard to the steps already taken and the steps which are in the offing to supply potable water to the people of Karnataka.
