Mysuru, DHNS: Jagadguru Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthaana Mutt of Sutturu Srikshetra, Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, is all set to host Adi Jagadguru Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Jatra Mahotsava, from January 26 to 31, with the theme 'Sutturu Jathre-Jana Jagruthi Yathre'.
The fest is not just packed with religious events and Utsavas of gods, but also with a variety of events to educate, entertain and even serve the people.
There will be a mass wedding and Haalharavi Utsava on January 27; Rathotsava and Sri Veerabhadreshwara Kondotsava on January 28; Sri Mahadeshwara Kondotsava and Lakshadeepotsava on January 29; Teppotsava on January 30; and Annabrahmotsava on January 31. There will be Kapila Aarathi on January 30.
Krishi Mela
Krishi Mela - with a theme of accurate Agro farming' - will be held to create awareness on the latest farm techniques and technologies, native breeds of sheep and other domestic animals. Symposiums by scientists and experts, and quiz on the theme will be held on January 29. There will be 'Krishi Brahmanda', a demo on one acre of land to portray cultivation of different varieties of crops and flowers. The 54th annual 'Danada Parishe'- cattle fair - is also held to provide a platform to buy and sell the best breeds of cows and oxen.
Bhajana mela, theatre fest, Chithra Santhe
The mutt is hosting several events to conserve local art, culture and tradition. There will be rangoli contest and 'Sobaane Pada' contest on January 26. Over 800 teams are expected to participate in the state-level Bhajana mela contest. There will be a state-level drawing contest, and 'Chithra Santhe', to display the artworks by artists from different parts of Karnataka on January 29. There will also be a photo expo. They are even holding 400 cultural events, by over 3,500 artistes from Karnataka and also from Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. There will be Suttur Jathra Natakotsava from January 27 to 29.
Expo, portraying AI
Students are displaying Science and Educational models, mainly portraying 'Articifial Intelligence'. There will be a quiz contest. The mutt is hosting an exhibition, to give a platform to display handicraft and handloom products by artisans, craftsmen and eeavers, besides products by women self help groups.
Desi sports
There will be a sports contest of desi games, including Aluguli Mane and Chowka Baara. There will be Naada Kusthi contest on January 30. There will boating and health camps on all days of the jatra.
Led by JSS mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, the mutt is holding all events grandly and arranging 'prasada' for people on all six days. Several leaders from Karnataka and also Central government would participate in different events of the Jathra Mahotsava.
