Singh arrived at Mangaluru to participate in a handloom and handicraft exhibition at the TMA Pai Convention Hall.

He went live on Instagram on March 1, at around 3.45 pm and spoke of his live-in relationship. In the video, he accused the woman of hiding her marital status.

"The woman is suspected to have introduced herself as a CISF personnel to the deceased," police said.

Commissioner of police Anupam Agrawal said Singh’s brother arrived the following day and gave a statement. Based on that, a complaint has been registered at Mangaluru South Police Station under Section 108 of BNS.

Commissioner said that the woman hid her marital status from the victim and under the pretext of love swindled him out of money by taking jewelry worth Rs 10-15 lakh.

She also made him incur other expenses on her. After realising the truth, Singh confronted her and later died by suicide.

After the police were alerted on the night of March 1, a team comprising forensic experts and crime scene officers rushed to the spot and examined the location, said Commissioner.
