Joshi was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Rozgar Mela’ (Employment Fair), organised by the SWR in the City on Saturday. Joshi said that the union government has set a target of providing 10 lakh jobs before the end of its tenure.

“The process of creating job opportunities was underway and would continue in phases.  The Centre is hopeful of achieving the target within the next two years,” he said.

“In the last two years, the Centre has conducted 16 ‘Rozgar Melas’ and issued appointment letters to 7.22 lakh people across various departments in the country. In the SWR alone, 1,135 individuals have been employed this year,” Joshi added.

During the event, appointment letters were issued to 56 candidates selected for various roles in the Railways, India Post and the banking sectors.
