Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader A Narayanaswamy on Thursday announced that the Madiga community would stage protests starting August 1 (Friday) in front of the deputy commissioners’ offices across 26 districts, demanding internal reservation, a long-standing demand of the community.
Speaking to reporters, he appealed to the Madiga community members to participate in big numbers to ensure the success of the agitation.
Narayanaswamy specifically called upon all sub-castes within the Madiga community to assemble in large numbers at Freedom Park in the city on August 1, emphasising that the gathering should serve as a strong demonstration of community solidarity.
The minister cautioned that if internal reservation was not implemented before the conclusion of the upcoming legislature session, suspicions against the Congress government would deepen within the community.
Narayanaswamy alleged that Congress leaders had not taken responsibility for the confusion over internal reservation and had failed to take effective steps to resolve the issue.
