He said that he has already spoken to Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP and MCC Commissioner Ravichandra Naik over phone and has issued instructions on the precautionary measures to be taken.

In a release, he said that he instructed that officials must be present on the ground and take all precautions to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced by rain-related damages.

Clearance operations must be carried out in areas where landslides have occurred along the roads. Maintain constant communication with the National Highways authority of India and address problems in areas where road connectivity is disrupted, he said. The Minister also instructed that families residing in low-lying, waterlogged areas must be relocated to relief centres.

Given the possibility of more rainfall, all tahsildars and officials must stay on the ground and continue operations. Immediate steps must be taken to relocate families living in houses at risk to safer locations. Rescue materials must be kept ready and utmost caution must be exercised to prevent any loss of life.

The control room should remain active round-the-clock and promptly respond to public complaints regarding rain-related damages. The Minister has issued a strict warning that any negligence in handling natural disaster operations will be considered seriously.
