“With classes beginning at 9 am, teachers, particularly women, start their day as early as 4 am to finish the domestic chores. They have to leave home at 7.30 am to reach the school on time,” Association secretary Ramadevi said at a programme to observe International Women’s Day here on Monday. She urged the government to consider changing the school timings to 10 am to 4 pm to enable women teachers perform effectively while at work.
