This government school stands amidst a number of private schools in the surrounding areas.

And the credit goes to the dedicated teachers of Government Higher Primary School of Kallikuppa in the T Gollahalli cluster. They have ensured that not a single student from the village goes to a private school.

The village has a population of 500 people and they take pride in this government school. The five teachers who work in this school has demonstrated that the attitude of adjustment can go along way in achieving any objective. The teachers in the school have also realised that discipline in a school begins with them and sets an example to the students of the school.

Concern over number

While the department of education has expressed concerned over the declining number of students in Government schools, this school does not have such a problem.

There are 160 students from standard I to VII.  People from some of the neighbouring villages in Mulbagal taluk also seek admission in this school.

The are vehicles of private schools passing through the village. Yet the people of Kallikuppa still prefer the Government school.

Return to school

Some the students who were earlier admitted in private schools have now come back to this school. Even those students who have been admitted to private institutions for their LKG and UKG come back to this school.

The Headmaster K M Venkatamuniyappa is a role model to the teachers who include Venkataramanachar, Nagabhushan, Appoji Goud and Dakshayini.

Rules and regulations

All the teachers are present in the school at 9.30 am and remain on campus at least up to 5.30 pm engaged in school activities. Of the five teachers, three are from the same village and other two are from the neighbouring villages.

No visitors are allowed during the school hours. They try to add a little to whatever grants they receive from the government and complete works to be done, supported by the School Development Monitoring Committed headed by the president Nanjundappa.

In 2004 the school got a government grant of Rs 1.50 lakh for an additional room. Another Rs 1.20 lakh was added to it and two rooms were added. A stone stage was set up with the donation of philanthropists
.
