Mangaluru: On the allegations that accused in cases are getting bail in High Court, Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the government has sanctioned team of Law Officers of the Advocate General Office to conduct criminal cases arisen and arising within the limit of Commissionerate of Police, Mangaluru city before High Court of Karnataka. “There are plans to extend the order to Dakshina Kannada district police as well,” he said.
In a order dated June 20, the law officers, the government said that law officers for Mangaluru commissionerate to strengthen the case before the High Court are State Public Prosecutor B A Belliappa, State Public Prosecutor – II Vijayakumar Majage, Additional Advocate General Pradeep C S, and S Ismail Zabi Ulla, Additional Advocate General. Further, the team is at liberty to take assistance of the concerned high court government pleader of such a case.
In the view of rising communal tensions within the limit of Commissionerate of Police, Mangaluru city and registration of such type of cases are in increase, the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State, Bengaluru had requested to appoint a separate State Public Prosecutor and Additional Advocate General to conduct such cases effectively before High Court of Karnataka.
Upon the consultation of the Advocate General for Karnataka State, the Government has decided to constitute a team of Law Officers of the Advocate General Office to conduct cases before the High Court of Karnataka.
