'Tech denial proved boon for ISRO'

Briefing reporters at Sriharikota on Friday, he said that the technology denial has forced them to develop several new materials and this had resulted in several companies providing materials assembling and testing them.

“We are now thinking of sharing more work with them,” he said. Quoting examples, he said that the strap on motors for the launch vehicle was completely assembled, integrated at tested at HAL, Bangalore.

The launch site at Sriharikota was a beehive of activity in preparation for the launch of the GSLV-D3 fitted with the home built cryogenic engines.  The GSAT-4 satellite will contain 8 Ka Band transponders and a transponder for GAGAN, the GPS navigation system of ISRO. The launch of the 2,218 kg communications satellite is scheduled on April 15 at 4.27 pm on Thursday.
