Chikkamagaluru: Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojary said that a process towards a tender for the development of Belur-Chikkamagaluru road has been initiated.

Speaking during the ‘Tingala Atithi’ programme organised by Press Club in Chikkamagaluru on Friday, Poojary said that the work is a long awaited one.

He meanwhile stated that Hassan – Belur National Highway development work will begin in a week.

“A Rs 520 crore project has been designed for S K Border – Gadikal road development. A discussion will be held with the Deputy Commissioner towards land acquisition. Also, a Rs 70 crore project has been designed towards the development of Chikkamagaluru – Kadur road, starting from Nandipura.”

Training under PM Vishwakarma scheme

4,500 people have been trained in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma scheme directed towards providing financial stability to the craftsmen. 19,000 applications have been received for training in tailoring alone.

Kota Srinivas Poojary meanwhile said that there are not many takers for the Central Government’s Surya Ghar solar panel installation project as the Gruha Jyothi scheme is implemented by the state government.

Loans will be provided under the Surya Ghar scheme to the 90,000 households who are excluded from Gruha Jyothi scheme. Rs two lakh loans and Rs 78,000 subsidy will be provided to them. The work of installing the panels has been commissioned in 312 households in Chikkamagaluru district. 24 people in Chikkamagaluru taluk have already availed the subsidy of the first instalment, the MP added.
