Terror suspect Zafar Sollapure’s father Sheikh handed over the passport of his son to the Keshwapur police station on Wednesday.

Sheikh and his family members, who had left for Bangalore the day after his son’s arrest by the Central Crime Branch, arrived in Hubli Wednesday morning.

The CCB police, who were waiting near Sheikh’s house, asked him to hand over his son’s passport. But Sheikh asked the CCB officers to search the house and take whatever documents they want. After searching for some time, the CCB police left the place.

Speaking to reporters, Sheikh said he took ill after his son was arrested. Therefore, he had gone to Bangalore for treatment.

“I did not get a chance to meet my son in Bangalore. My son is innocent and he was not involved in any anti-national activities. He will get a clean chit from the police.

They should submit the charge sheet at the earliest,” said Sheikh, who is an Assistant Conservator of Forests.

Later, the family members found Zafar’s passport and handed it over to the police.
