"We thought Siddaramaiah is the Chief Minister of the state. It has now been learnt that there is another Chief Minister above him. The MLAs have to ask Randeep Singh Surjewala for grants. Progress has been witnessing a low point in the entire state," said Nikhil.

He was speaking after flagging-off the JD(S) membership drive at  M S Dyavegowda memorial Vokkaligara Samudaya Bhavana in Koppa on Thursday.

"The enrollment process has to be completed within 30 days," he said.

Criticising forest minister Eshwar Khandre for ban on cattle grazing in forests, he said that the minister's statement, asking people not to leave cattle for grazing in forest land, is an irresponsible one.

"Whether the people have to leave the cattle at the forest minister's house for grazing," he asked.

Nikhil, also urged the forest minister to implement permanent measures to check elephant menace in NR Pura and Koppa regions.

Four people have died due to elephant attacks in the recent past, he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, Nikhil also demanded a fair probe into the death of girl students at a residential school in the district.

"The cases should be dealt with seriously. The police should not succumb to pressure," he said.

He further stated that the roads in Koppa region are ridden by potholes.

"This shows the commitment to the people by the MLA of the region," said Nikhil.

Regarding the Dharmasthala case, he said it is not prudent to say anything before the completion of the investigation by the SIT.
