Mysuru: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader B R Puttaswamy said, those who opposed Ambedkar earlier worship him now.
After inaugurating the 134th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, organised by the BSP district unit at a private hotel, in Mysuru, on Monday, BSP state secretary Puttaswamy said, advocates of Manu’s smrithi strongly opposed Ambedkar in the past.
“Now, they are worshipping him. People of the oppressed classes must understand the politics behind this,” he said.
“Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, is not limited to just the BSP or Ambedkarites today. Even the Manuists who troubled him at every step are now celebrating his birth anniversary. The two national parties - Congress and BJP – whose ideals are completely opposite to the principles of Ambedkar are also keeping his photo in their office and worshipping him. However, the Manuists’ mockery against Ambedkar should not be forgotten," he said.
“Both national parties are working to mislead those who are dreaming of an enlightened India, that Ambedkar desired. Now, Ambedkar is receiving the respect of the entire world. Everyone is celebrating his birth anniversary to compensate for the earlier betrayal. Those who defeated him in elections are bowing before him today. We must inform the people about this truth," he said.
BSP state secretary Bharath Kumar Gowda, district president P Chandrashekhar, district conveners B Mahadevaswamy and Chandrashekhar Naviluru, and general secretary H Gangadhar participated in the celebrations.
