Mangaluru: An FIR has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station after a social media post issued a threat to VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell.
Sharan Pumpwell has lodged a complaint stating that a message was posted through a fake account referring to a news broadcast on the Facebook page of a Kannada news channel, stating, "Next target Sharath Pumpwell. Sharath be ready to die."
A case has been registered under Section 66 of the Information Technology Act and Section 351(4) of the BNS act, and an investigation is under way.
Threat to SDPI leader
Another FIR has been registered at Mangaluru South Police station after a post on social media issued a threat to SDPI leader Riyaz Kadambu (Mohammed Riyaz).
The threat message was posted allegedly by K R Rakesh during the a news broadcast on YouTube about the death of Hindutva leader Suhas Shetty on May 2.
The post said “Next is Riyaz Kadambu. In another YouTube channel which was broadcasting news on the funeral of Suhas Shetty, another threat message — “Hit list” was posted against the complainant. The complainant alleged that the message was provocative and aimed at inciting communal feelings. A case has been registered under Sections 192, 351 (3), 351 (4), 351 (2) of BNS.
