Hubballi: Three persons who were trying to escape after murdering 24-year-old Akash Valmiki at the basement of Golden Heights Bar and Restaurant at Lingaraja Nagar were shot in the leg by Vidyanagar police in Hubballi on Tuesday.

The accused—Yellappa, Vinoda and Abhishek of Anandanagar—were shot five times in their legs and shifted to KMC-RI for treatment.

During the encounter, four policemen suffered injuries.

On Monday night, Akash Valmiki was brutally murdered by three men over an old enmity, something that was premeditated, as per the cops. Subsequently, Vidyanagar police visited the spot and shifted Valmiki's body to KMC-RI and laid a trap for the accused after registering the case.
