District In-charge Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur conducts inspection by visiting Tippanatagi village of Surpur taluk on Monday.

Yadgir: Three people from Tippanatagi village in Surpur taluk, who were reportedly admitted to the hospital for vomiting and diarrhea died on Monday. The villagers suspect that the deaths occurred due to drinking contaminated water. However, the health officials have not confirmed this so far.

Cases of vomiting and diarrhea have been reported in Tippanatagi village for the last few days. Many people have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The deceased, identified as Devikemma Hotti (60), Venkamma (50) and Ramanna Poojary (64), were reportedly admitted to the hospital 10 days ago,.

The condition of four others is said to be critical and they are undergoing treatment in various hospitals including one at Kalaburagi.

The health officials said that a temporary health centre has been set up at the village’s Anganwadi centre and around 13 people have undergone treatment on Monday. District In-charge Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur has visited the village to conduct inspection. 

Yadgir DHO Dr Mahesh Biradar however denied that the deaths occureed due to drinking contaminated water. "All three deceased persons had various health problems. They had heart problems, brain tumours, and diabetes. They did not die due to drinking contaminated water. A health camp has been set up in the village. Water samples are collected and sent to the laboratory. Action will be taken after obtaining the report. The supply of drinking water has been arranged from neighbouring Malagatti village," he said.
