As a part of CAD (Cardiology at doorsteps) initiative — a crusade against Coronary Artery Disease, ECG machines were installed at community health centres at Napoklu, Gonikoppa and a primary health centre at Moornadu in Kodagu district on Saturday.

The CAD initiative by like-minded doctors led by Dr Padmanabh Kamath, HoD of Cardiology and professor at KMC, Mangaluru, has already installed over 105 ECG machines in PHCs and private clinics in remote villages of eight districts in Karnataka including the Coastal and Malnad districts.

In the initiative, doctors at these PHCs and clinics record ECG and transmit it on the WhatsApp group. Later, the cardiologists from Mangaluru, Dr Kamath and Dr Manish Rai, provide opinion on the ECGs posted. The ECG machines are from Skanray Technologies Pvt Ltd, Mysuru.
