The victims – Srinivas (35), 32-year-old Farooq and Naseer (34) – were placing the iron pole in a small pit that they had dug for the same. Unfortunately, they did not observe a livewire running above the pole.

The pole came in contact with the wire, and sent a strong jolt of current through the trio who were clasping the metal rod. All three of them were initially rushed to a nearby hospital in Muttugadur, where the doctors suggested it would be best to take them to Davanagere. However, the three of them died while they were en route to Davanagere.

Srinivas’s father Ratera Nagarajappa had enlisted the services of Fyroze, a contractor based out of Ranaberu village in Davanagere, to construct an areca shed.

Fyroze dispatched Farooq and Naseer on Wednesday morning to complete the task. The duo was working with Srinivas when the mishap occurred.
