Security has been tightened across the district ahead of Tipu Jayanti. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC have been clamped as a precauionary measure.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday, superintendent of police G Radhika said that ban orders will be in force from 6 am on Thursday till 6 am on Saturday in sensitive areas. She said that police will keep vigil round-the-clock for ensuring law and order. Check posts have been set on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and all vehicles will be checked.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped in Mandya Rural, Srirangapatna and Bellur police station limits, which are said to be sensitive areas. The order would be extended to other places if needed, she added.

Those who try to disturb peace and harmony by raising slogans and holding placards would be arrested. Those who move in a suspicious manner will not be spared, she warned.

Police would take out flag march at sensitive areas. CCTV cameras would be installed at vantage points to monitor the movement of vehicles and people. Arrangements have been made to videograph any incident, which disturbs peace and harmony, she said.

Ambulance, fire and emergency services squad, and bomb disposal squad will be on high alert, the SP added.
