Torrential rain for the last five days in Kodagu district has thrown normal life out of gear.
The coffee growers are anxious over the coffee and pepper crop and are worried over fruit rot disease affecting their crop.
The district has received above normal rainfall and the rivulets are overflowing in the region. All the waterfalls in the district have come back to life.
The intensity of rain has declined in South Kodagu and farmers have commenced farming activities.
However, Bhagamandala, Napoklu and Ayyangeri continued to receive heavy rain and the flood situation continued.
Traffic hit
A huge tree fell on Madikeri-Mangaluru National Highway 275 at Jodupala on Tuesday morning and disrupted the movement of vehicles for more than four hours.
The fire service personnel rushed to the spot and cleared the branches of the tree. The vehicles had remained piled up from Jodupala to Koinadu.
A major disaster was averted after an electricity pole fell on a Rajahamsa bus at Koinadu. As the region did not have electricity supply during the incident, the damage was minimal.
In the last 24 hours, Kodagu received an average of 78.96 mm rainfall. The district has received 1,681.38 mm rainfall since January. It was 815.65 mm rainfall during the corresponding period last year.
Kadanoor, Arji, Perumbadi, Balugodu, Bittangala, Ammathi, Bilagunda and surrounding areas received heavy rain.
