Heated arguments broke out between caretakers of Dasara elephants and a group of tourists as a tourist allegedly assaulted a mahout on Mysuru Palace premises on Saturday.

The incident was reported when a tourist assaulted Thimma, mahout of Dasara elephant Balarama, for preventing him from feeding the elephant, which was camping on the Palace premises.

Thimma and other caretakers warned the tourists to stay away from the elephants, but, a tourist made an attempt to feed a piece of sugarcane to the elephant. When Thimma snatched the piece, the tourist allegedly assaulted him. However, the police, who were nearby, controlled them.
