Dr Ashwathnarayana, technical expert of the project said that the State Archaeology department has shown green signal to the shifting of the armoury but the rules of the Archaeological Survey of India are very strict and against shifting of monuments. There are plans to shift the armoury which is 30 x 40 dimension and one metre thick, to a distance of 50 mts from the original spot. If the confusion between the Railways and ASI is sorted out the monument would be shifted with the aid of steel rods without breaking and causing any damage to the historical monument, he said.
The ASI has been claiming that the place the armoury is situated belongs to it, while the place is under the control of Public Works Department, he said.
ASI Director Venkateshaiah, Deputy Director Narasimhan, Department of Archaeology and Museums Director Dr Gopal, Chief Engineer of South Western Railways Reddy, Superintendending Engineer Kate, technical experts Dr Ashwathnarayana, Tejaswi and others visited the spot for inspection.
They also held discussions on the monument which is under debate for the doubling between Mysore and Bangalore.
