Bengaluru: Lokayukta sleuths on Friday caught a transport department officer red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,100 from a businessman for issuing transport permits.

Venkatesh, a first division clerk at the state transport corporation,  had demanded Rs 35,100 from Arbaaz Khan, a 42-year-old businessman, for issuing transport permits, according to a press release by the Lokayukta.

On Friday, as soon as Khan handed over the money to Venkatesh, police caught the latter and recovered the amount. The investigation is on.

Police have booked Venkatesh under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
