Bengaluru: The Joint Action Committee of the Trade Unions of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has urged Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy to fulfill technical vacancies in the four RTCs by taking approval from the state cabinet.
The committee, which is composed of six RTC employees' unions, made the demand in a letter to Reddy on March 3.
The letter mentioned that the committee had listed several demands at the tripartite meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on April 4.
These included clearing the RTC staff's arrears for 38 months, implementing a pay hike from January 1, 2024, reappointing employees who were dismissed during the previous strike, withdrawing criminal cases against employees and addressing the shortage of technical staff.
The committee noted that the chief minister had promised to hold another meeting to address the demands.
"We earnestly request you to present the necessary proposal in the upcoming cabinet meeting for the recruitment of technical staff in the transport corporations, obtain approval and thereby address the shortage. This will enable the corporations to provide more efficient transport services to the people of the state," read the letter signed by HV Anantha Subbarao, B Jayadev Raje Urs, HD Revappa, Venkataravanappa, Somanna, and Jagadish.
