Parthiba (33), wife of Gopalkrishna, Mangalore is the victim. She is the daughter of Dr Prakash, a resident of Saraswathipuram in Mysore.
It is said that the deceased’s husband Gopalakrishna, brother-in-law Ganeshprasad, his wife Mahalakshmi and their nine-year-old daughter Prarthana, who were were travelling with her, also sustained injuries. While Mahalakshmi, who is said to be in critical condition, has been shifted to Mysore hospital for treatment others were treated as outpatients, here. It is said that Gopalakrishna and others were proceeding to Ooty from Mysore in an Innova car, when the tragedy lurked at them. Gopalakrishna escaped with minor injuries.
It is said that the authorities had failed to put any warning boards indicating that the trees were being axed, which led to the mishap.
