Tension prevailed in Mmalnad region again as tremors were felt in Thirthahalli and Hosanagar taluks in the wee hours of Monday.
This is the third such instance in less than a month.
Mild tremors measuring 2.02 on the Richter Scale were reported at Megaravalli, Hanasa, Gardaragadde and Doddina mane villages in Thirthahalli taluk.
The residents of these villages came out of their houses immediately. The villagers of Yaduru, Sulagodu and Khairugunda in Hosanagara taluk experienced mild tremors for about two seconds, Ashoka, a resident of Onimane, Hosanagar taluk, said.
Similarly, tremors were experienced at several villages including Hulikal, Mastikatte, Yaduru, Sulagodu, Nidagodu, Hebbalabylu, and Megaravalli under Varahi Dam command area in Hosanagar taluk.
Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre issued a guideline that the region will witness mild tremors frequently.
