Hunsur: A tribal youth, who was herding sheep, was killed in a tiger attack in Hunsur taluk, Mysuru district, on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Harish (29), son of Krishna, a resident of 5th Block, near Nagapura Tribal Rehabilitation Centre.

Reports said that Harish was herding his sheep when a tiger that was hiding in a nearby bush pounced on him. He sustained serious injuries to his neck and was bleeding profusely. He was immediately rushed to the government hospital in Hunsur, where he breathed his last.

Harish was married to a girl from Balale village in Kodagu around three months ago, family members said.

MLA G D Harish Gowda visited the hospital, consoled the family members and offered personal compensation.

Deputy Conservator of Forest Mohammed Faizal and Range Forest Officer Nandakumar visited the spot and assured of government compensation.
