Tribals of Daasanapura haadi under Hanagodu hobli in the taluk staged a protest demonstration keeping  a dead body, alleging that the burial ground meant for them has been encroached upon.

The protest was staged after the owners of the land in question denied permission for burrial of the body, claiming that the land belonged to them. The tribals had come to bury one Krishnaiah. They said the disputed land was used for burial from generations.

Tahsildar Shivanandamurthy, circle inspector Gajendra Prasad and social welfare officer Honnegowda visited the spot and pacified the protesters, facilitating the burial elsewhere.
Shivanandamurthy said the court had sanctioned three acres of land for cultivation to one Kaushalyamma in 2006.

“To know whether additional land has been encroached upon, a survey will be conducted.  If  encroachment is found, it will be cleared to make way for the burial ground of tribals. Or else, arrangements will be made to provide burial ground in survey number 13 of the village,” he said.
