Hosapete: In an embarrassing moment for Vijayanagar District Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan and the district administration, the national tricolour measuring 60X40 feet slipped off the 405-foot tall flagpole minutes after the minister hoisted it at Puneeth Rajkumar stadium in Hosapete on Sunday.

The steel pole cracked and along with the massive flag came crashing down. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

It’s said, the Hosapete city municipal council had entrusted the responsibility of maintaining the second tallest flag post to a Bengaluru-based company. The minister, during his Republic Day speech, said that strict action would be taken against the errant officials.
