Four persons were killed on the spot and three sustained injuries as a truck in which they were travelling fell off a bridge near Mirjana Jaddikatte in the taluk on Wednesday.
The dead have been identified as Riyaz (22) of Lakkundi in Gadag district; Gangavva (45) and Basavaraj (42) of Bylur and Jaibulla (46) of Gadag.
Police said that the victims were travelling from Gadag to Udupi. The accident occurred as the cement-laden truck rammed into the railing of the 15-foot bridge and fell off it.
