The 38-year-old had opted for sterilisation after the birth of her second child (a son). However, he drowned in a well and unable fill the void, the couple decided to have another child.

Nagaveni went through tuboplasty, a surgical procedure to correct the obstruction in the fallopian tubes, at the Vagus hospital.

“The success rate of tuboplasty is only 40 per cent, Nagaveni and her husband Krishnappa took the chance,” said Dr Narayanaswamy, who led the team that conducted the surgery.
