Tuskers trample two to death

According to police, Subba of Masthammana Haadi was attacked by a tusker while he was returning home after washing clothes in a tank near. He was immediately shifted to Hunsur hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

In another incident, Chennamma of Abbur village was trampled to death by a tusker. The incident occurred while she was bringing firewood from the nearby forests. She was killed on the spot.

Legislator H P Manjunath and Karnataka Housing Board Chairman G T Deve Gowda visited the village and consoled the family members. A sum of Rs 50,000 was paid to two families as interim relief.

The balance would be paid in two days, said DCF Vijayranjan Singh. Following the incidents, residents staged a snap strike alleging that Forest department had failed to prevent wild animals from straying into villages.
