Presence of mind of two brave boys helped save the life of a girl at Appegowdanahalli village in Shidlaghatta taluk on Thursday evening.

The girl, 5-year-old Poorvika, stays with her grandmother, Uma, while her parents, Raviprasad and Anitha, reside at Devanahalli village.

While playing, Poorvika accidently slipped into a 9-foot sump near her house, where her neighbour Ganeshappa, is constructing a house. 6-year-old Satvik and 5-year-old Deepak, who were also with her, immediately rushed to her help. They both grabbed her hands and lifted her up from the sump. A frightened Poorvika fell unconscious after the incident.

On hearing the commotion, Poorvika’s grandmother, Uma, and Deepak's mother, Munirathnamma, rushed to the spot. Poorvika was given a first aid and is fine.
