Panchal had ended his life by falling under a train here on Thursday leaving a suicide note accusing the associates of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge of making death threats.

The contractor's family had approached the Gandhi Gunj police station to file a missing complaint after noticing the suicide note on social media. However, the head constables, instead of registering an FIR, advised them to visit Dhannur police station saying Panchal hailed from Katti Tugaon village.

Based on a complaint by Panchal's sister Savita, a case was registered against nine Congress local leaders, including Kalaburagi Mahanagar Palike former councillor Raju Kapanur at the Bidar Railway Police Station.

In a seven-page suicide note, the contractor had stated that he was ending his life due to threats from the Congress leaders, who he accused of demanding money in connection with a tender. He ended his life by throwing himself in front of a moving train in Bidar.

Meanwhile, Sri Ram Sene national honorary president Siddalinga Swami and other BJP leaders demanded a CBI probe into the suicide. Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Friday, they sought Priyank Kharge's resignation citing the alleged involvement of his associates in abetting the contractor's suicide.
