Siddapura: Two labourers sustained injuries after a wild elephant attacked them in Karadigodu village near Siddapura in Kodagu district on Friday.

Around 15 labourers were on their way to work at an estate in the village in the morning when the lone tusker attacked them.

A majority of the labourers managed to escape but the jumbo charged at Paramananda (30), a native of Bagalkot, injuring him. Another labourer Raghu suffered injuries after he fell down while running. Both were provided with first aid at Community Health Centre in Siddapura and were later admitted to the government district hospital in Madikeri for further treatment.

Virajpet Range Forest Officer Shivaram and staff visited the spot and conducted inspection.

Recently, Purushottam, a coffee grower, was killed in elephant attack at the village. The local residents have urged the forest department to take necessary measures to ensure safety of the people.
