Two more die of fever in Bellary

Harijan Anjenappa (55) of Taluru, Sandur taluk died at VIMS in the wee hours of Saturday.
While, Harijan Galeppa (45) of Dharamsagar died on Saturday evening. According to VIMS Director Dr Devanand, “Galeppa died of brain haemorrhage. Even failure of kidneys could be one of the reasons for his death,” he added.

Health Minister B Sriramulu and District In-charge Minister G Janardhana Reddy visited the hospital and met patients.

Doctors said that 22 patients from various villages of Hospet taluk, who are undergoing treatment at VIMS, are out of danger.

Despite assurances from the Health Department that the situation was under control, many villages have been witnessing exodus.

According to confirmed reports, malaria cases are on the rise at Gadiganur, Dharamsagar, Dhavanahalli, Kotaginahaalu and Kakabalu villages. Hospet taluk Medical Officer Dr Jambaiah told Deccan Herald that leptospirosis could be the reason behind so many people falling sick.

He advised the people to drink filtered water. The water supplied from Tungabhadra reservoir to Jindal factory should be purified before consumption, he said.
