The Forest department team on patrol found the carcass of a male tiger cub on Monday night. They alerted the higher officials, who, along with veterinarians, visited the spot on Tuesday morning.

They took out a combing operation around the area and found the carcass of another female tiger cub at a distance of 50 metres from the first carcass.

According to the officials, the cubs are newborn and around 15-days-old. The cubs might have been separated from their mother tigress and died of starvation, according to the post-mortem.

It may be mentioned that a tigress and its four cubs were found poisoned to death at Hoogyam wildlife range, under Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife division on June 26. The environmentalists have expressed anxiety over the death of two tiger cubs in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary limits.
