Belagavi: Two wagons of a goods train derailed while entering a railway station in Karnataka's Belagavi on Tuesday. It affected movement of trains both up and down from Belagavi and some of the trains had to be regulated.

The two wagons derailed while entering the railway station at about 7.30 am, as the train was on its way towards Miraj. Railway staff rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

As the spot of the derailed wagons being accessible from the Belagavi-Khanapur road, passerby too assembled at the spot to collect information of the incident.

South Western Railway informed that the trains upwards Londa - Miraj were regulated at Desur, Mysuru –Belagavi Express were regulated at Khanapur, Bengaluru–Sangli Expressed were regulated at Londa, Bengaluru–Jodhpur Express were regulated at Devrai and Tirupathi–Kolhapur arriving at Hubballi.

Trains downwards Ajmer -Bengaluru Express were regulated at Raibag, Miraj–Hubballi were regulated at Kudachi, Dadar Central–Puduchery were regulated at Ghataprabha and Dadar–Hubballi were regulated at Sulebhavi.

An accident relief train has been dispatched from Hubballli to the site to expedite restoration efforts. Necessary arrangements have been made for the affected passengers at respective stations.

The general manager, assistant general manager and other senior officers are monitoring the situation and restoration is under progress.
