Bandur breed rams that fetched a whopping Rs 1.60 lakh

Malavalli (Mandya dist): Ullas Gowda, a young farmer from Kirugavalu village in Malavalli taluk, Mandya district, has sold two seven-month-old rams of the much sought after Bandur breed, for a whopping Rs 1.60 lakh.
Kumar of Kirugavalu and Kullegowda of Vaddarahalli have bought the young rams.
Ullas, who is pursuing BCA, and his family, are into sheep rearing.
They had sold a similar ram to a farmer from
Shivamogga at Rs 1.48 lakh, a few months ago.
“My grandfather and my father Manohar were into sheep rearing. I joined them and nurtured the sheep with extra care. There is a great demand for Bandur sheep, as its meat is more tasty than the other breeds of sheep and goats. However, these rams are not reared for meat, as there are very few sheep in this breed,” Ullas said.
